DLO, part of Wageningen University and Research Center, is a private not for profit research institute with experienced and highly motivated personnel and specializes in strategic and applied research for industry and public institutions. By integrating knowledge on crop protection, crop ecology, agricultural systems, genetics and reproduction, DLO serves the entire agro-production chain with scientific products, from the DNA level to production system concepts. 

Participant role in the project: The main role of DLO is contribution to the microbiological improvement of compost, leader of WP4. In Task 4.1. DLO will set up microbiological strategy and selection of bacterial inoculants and development of inoculation technology and protocol for improving the soil-health and disease suppression potential of the compost. DLO will also select, product- and quality testing of bacterial inoculants. Evauation of the survival of bacterial inoculants in Animal Bone Biochar and compost. Population dynamics of bacterial inoculants in soil and rootsystems after their same day application wil also be evaluated in Task 4.1. DLO will evaluate the application of microbially enriched ABC and compost for the Dutch market fertilization and biocontrol) in strawberry cultivation (field and greenhouse) in Task 8.1. DLO will also perform the dissemination of project (in WP 10) results. DLO will also contribute to WP1, WP3, WP6, WP7 and WP9.
